Gratis mönster och tutorial på väska!

Innan jul så var jag med i Vi Sytokigas egen blogg och skrev en tutorial på hur du syr en söt väska med metallbåge 15 cm (som jag även säljer ut billigt på Mrs Bao!)

Här kommer även tuten i min egen blogg samt mönsterdel som pdf (andra mönsterdelar är enligt mått).

Printa ut och klipp ut dina mönsterdelar. 
Den rundande väskdelen (inkl. sömsmån) Kom ihåg att överföra markeringarna, klipp två i yttertyget, två i fodertyget och två i tunn fodervadd eller vlieseline.
Liten rektangel 23 x 7 cm (lägg till sömsmån). Klipp två i yttertyget av denna, de ska sys till en tunnel däri du kommer att trä väskans metallpinne.
Stor rektangel (lägg till sömsmån) 46 x 9,5 cm 

En av vardera i yttertyg, fodertyg och fodervadd eller vlieseline .

(** Något att fundera på är om du även vill lägga till någon ficka på utsidan eller insidan**)

Sy tunnel för metallpinnen
Vik in 1 cm på vardera kortsida och sy en söm ca 0,5 cm från kanten.
Vik ner långsida mot långsida och sy 2 cm från den övre kanten (dvs. den vikta kanten.

Sy ”öronen” på väskans platta. Kom ihåg att sy insnitten på fodertyget också!

Sy fast den korta rektangeln på toppen av väskans bas. Sy här med en sömsmån 0,5 cm.
Sy fast den långa rektangeln längs väskans rundade del. Sy fast den andra delen också. Sy ihop foderdelarna likadant, kom ihåg att då lämna ena botten öppen för att sedan kunna vända rätt.

Stoppa ner foderväskan i den yttre väskan så att allt hamnar räta mot räta. Sy sedan toppsömmen hela vägen runt 1 cm sömsmån. Vänd därefter väskan rätt håll och sy ihop öppningen i foderdelen.

Sy en stickning längs den övre kanten, gärna lite längre stygn ca 3.0

Ta fram metallbågen och skruva av en skruv på sidan och dra ut metallpinnen halvvägs. Pinnen stoppar du sedan in i väskans flärp, i den nedre tunneldelen. (du kan behöva en stark hand eller verktyg).

Och nu är väskan klar! Dags att dricka lite glögg och beskåda ditt mästerverk. Dessutom kan du passa på att plocka fram tyger till väska nr. 2, då du köper denna metallbåge hos Mrs Bao så är det 2 till priset av 1. (men skynda er innan butiken stänger för gott någon gång våren 2015)

Melbourne Cup in Taipei

Today I went to a Melbourne Cup event in Taipei. Lots of women in hats and beautiful clothing meet to start drinking champagne at 10:30 in the morning. Appearantly there's a horse race too going on.... Good food to choose from, even though I made the wrong choice (that's what happens when you actually eat better at home...But I guess that's a good thing!)



Of course - last minute! I finished this dress last night. It's from Burdastyle 3/2012, a twist knot dress in woven fabric. I made mine in this fabric



After finishing the dress it was time to start on the hat! A fascinator using actually horsehair braid, and I also found a net fabric with polka dots which made it go very well with my dress!



A fascinator is not every day that you get to wear, which makes this event especially fun! Not like you, or at least I, wear a silk dress either every day but it's a great wardrobe piece that I can wear to going out to a restaurant.

This dress is also a part Of my SWAP (sewing with a plan) w2014/2015. More about that another time.

Beautiful inside

First I have to say! NO! We're not pregnant! This is for a customer. It's not often that I sew for others but someone on Facebook in a local group was asking where to buy a Babynest (they're not commonly sold in Taiwan), so I offered to make one.

And it's always nice to be able to "clean out" your stash a little bit. Lately I have been doubting myself a little bit. What am I really doing buying so much fabric? Taking up so much space in our home? Sure, I also have a business that I run from home (www.mrsbao.se), but a hunger for other knowledge has started to grow in me. What about learning other languages? Taking up university studies again? What about actually work where I can use the knowledge I already have? Where it actually is appreciated. I think that's the thing maybe, to be useful and appreciated. We'll see what happens...

Back to the Babynest! Isn't it cute?! I love the lace, I used two laces and sewed them together as one, and believe it or not - I actually remembered to sew on my mark! I only got a few thousands laying around (taking up space...)





I even had pink snap buttons at home. I know I just complained all the sewing stuff taking up so much space - but sometimes it's a good thing!

Bra workshops with Beverly Johnson in Stockholm

A couple of weeks ago I attended some workshops with Beverly Johnson from bramakerssupply.com, she also has the blog Life Of a Fairy Bra Mother.

That was really a big highlight of this year's vacation to Sweden. The classes were at a hotel in Stockholm, with the convenient (but very pricy) option of staying at the hotel. Actually the first couple of nights I stayed at a fellow sewing mate from all the FB groups, and only the last night at the hotel. Like this I got to "save" a lot of money that I then could spend on buying fabric and elastics for more bra projects. Hehehe....

Now that I've attended this event, I can't wait for the different classes that are coming next summer!! And now I also know better what to pack and where to stay (not staying at the same hotel again, it was just too expensive, but there are other options close by).

French Knickers - free pattern from Vera Venus

I thought this summer would be filled with Rockabilly dresses and circle skirts - but arriving to Sweden just before Midsummer and it was only 5 C!! - I lost the inspiration and spent the next 2 weeks in my one pair of long trousers I even brought to Sweden.

(The weather did get better but my shorts were so comfortable I just wore that).

Anyways - wearing circle skirts you have to be prepared (I hate the discomfort of having to hold down your beautiful dress/skirt all day long!). So I made a pair of French Knickers (free pattern) from Vera Venus. (great blog with a lot of info, check it out!)

Even though my measurements were spot on, more or less, I found it a bit big, but that equals more comfort and I got to use a regular elastic with a beautiful edge. The fabric is a thin and soft cotton/silk mix, perfect for lining!

I haven't tried it yet but now at least I'm prepared for Typhoon season - if I would like to meet it skirt! Or I can just use it as sleep wear.

Summer equals maxi dresses! These dresses id the same pattern that I used last year, a great model and reviels just enough cleavage for my liking. Plus it's easy and sews up fast!
